Swing left (with the Left Stick) then right to dodge the mistress' attacks (do this as she propels her tentacles). After a couple counters, attack her with either Square or Triangle while dodging another blow. Soon, Kratos will break free of the second chain and send her crashing down below.

Chase her to the next area, then hop over the set of stone blocks with a double-jump. As she flees, she'll summon some Beetle monsters after you. Get your practice in using quick and heavy attacks here for future combat scenarios. Once the Beetles are defeated, move ahead and chase her across the bridge (you'll have to fight your way over). At the end of the bridge, as you enter the corridor, go right and discover a note, as well as a chest containing some Red Orbs.

Continue down the corridor and catch up with the fleeing demon; she'll knock you down to the room below (bummer!). Battle some more foes here – use standard attacks and try grappling 'em (R1). Throw them by using (O).

The next patch of enemies will be armed with blade-spears; kick them to disarm 'em! When the room clears, a ramp will be created for you (well, sort of). Stand on the white-highlighted circle and grapple (R1) onto the ramp structure in order to break it in half.

Use a double-jump to reach the pathway above. Run down and snag some Green Orbs from the chest.

At the end of the hall, grab the note then ascend the ladder. Smash the chest to collect some Red Orbs, then interact with the door by tapping (O) to open it. Run up the stairs outside. As the mistress escapes once again, scoop up the Sword she leaves behind. This is a sub-weapon; many are useful in the game to disarm foes or to stun enemies.

Give it a try on the wave that ambushes you. Dismiss the Beetles thereafter and you'll witness a rather disgusting cinema. Time for your first boss! Hand of Aegaeon Phase One Use the Right Stick to evade its attacks. Once its claws are clamped on the ledge, slash in some hits to his arms or central body. There are two attacks it'll perform: It'll dive at you, or prompt one claw on the ground while dragging the other across ledge.

Either way, you can jump over its sliding attack and easily roll backward to avoid this. On a side note, you CAN hit the beast while it positions itself from the distance. With enough damaged dealt, you'll be faced with a QTE (Quick Time Event).

Grapple its head (R1), then follow the correct button indications after (which should be Square, Square, and Square). The only reason I say 'should' is because some sequences in the game are random! Phase Two Now the beast will be dangling above you. This part is flat-out easy.

There are two small 'nooks' on the ground, ones that you can leap down to that avoid the monster's claw as it slides it across the area. You don't want to stay under too long, though – the monster will try and pound ya! You need to double-jump your way out of the ditch to safety.
