Hi, I have an Airwell ducted reverse cycle air con system (model GC30RCB), and the outdoor part of the unit is still running and blowing out air when I turn off the air con. The only way I've been able to turn it off is by shutting off my mains power – obviously not an option as all my lights/fridge etc go off with it, and when I put the power back on it just starts up again.

I'd get someone in to have a look at it, but the long weekend means it won't be looked at till next Tuesday at the earliest. Meanwhile it's using a large amount of power 24/7, and I'm worried the compressor is going to get stuffed (if it's not already). Does anyone know how to turn this thing off till I can get it checked out? Had the *exact* issue with my Airwell about 3 years ago. Model seems familiar but it's rubbed off on the outdoor unit now.

Service tech said it was ok to run as long as the indoor unit was on but yeah. It's going to run all the time.

When we got ours installed, there was a power switch installed next to the outdoor unit so I expect there may be something like that somewhere between the unit and the meter box. Ours turned out to be a stuck contactor.no idea if this is a silly suggestion but give the unit a couple of whacks to see if it may dislodge. Incidentally, our unit ran for about 8 hours without indoor unit running and neighbours said it made some horrible noises but it's still going now so you are OK.
